Antigua: Feeling Rough

This entry is part 12 of 27 in the series Guatemala

Day 78 – Tuesday 6th December 2005

After getting my scuba diving certification I wanted to get away from the lake. I had originally only planned to spend three or four days around the lake, but this turned out to be more like 8 or 9. I had had fun but I thought it was time to make my way to Antigua to take another week of Spanish classes.

Thus I found myself getting up early and taking a lancha, a walk, a minivan and a nap. When all this was done I had arrived in Antigua – the supposed capital of Spanish language schools in Latin America. I planned on wasting no time by going straight out and finding myself a school and begining classes the following day, however when I arrived I felt quite under the weather and hence collapsed on my bed and slept for most of the afternoon!

In other words I took a sick day! I did feel a little better in the evening and managed to drag myself out for dinner and to watch a film, but nothing much more than happened unfortunately.
