Bocas del Toro: More Beach Life

This entry is part 2 of 15 in the series Panama

Day 126 – Monday 23rd January 2006

The region of Bocas del Toro is supposed to have some of the most beautiful beaches in Panama, so I decided to have yet another day lapping up the sun. I caught a bus to Bocas del Drago, one of the beaches on the other side of the island and walked the length of it looking for a picture perfect setting in which to lay and generally do nothing.

After about 30 mins and half a mile later I found just the place, palm trees behind with no waves and a stretch of white sand about 5m wide. I lay there perfectly happy for a while until the sand flies discovered me and then I decided to take another walk. In the end I just walked the length of the beach and back again, which took me a good few hours. I hitched a lift back to Bocas del Toro and used the remainder of the afternoon to finally finish ‘The Brothers Karamazov’ by Dostoevsky. Although a good read it took me about three weeks to finish it.

Myself and a Swiss lad who were staying in the hostel decided to have a few drinks in the evening, so we purchased yet another bottle of Flor de CaƱa, but only drank a few shots each as there was nothing going on in the hostel that night.
