Puerto Madryn: Ozone Free Sunbathing

Day 149 – Wednesday 15th February 2006

I had thought about cycling to a place named Punta Loma, 17kms away, to see a colony of sea lions, however when I woke it was already roasting and after finding out it was predicted to reach 100F I decided that it was too hot to be contemplating the bike ride.

Instead I tried to catch up on the blog during the middle of the day when it was too hot to be on the beach (remember: in this part of the world they have a problem with the ozone layer – it is not there!). At 3pm, ozone or not, I factor 30-ed up and went to the beach together with the thousands of others with the same idea.

After frying for a while I had a game of beach football with the locals, before walking along the promenade (sounds like Southend) and out to the pier where the fishermen were having no luck. With nothing much else going on I went back to the hostel and arranged a tour to Peninsula Valdes for the following day.

Hola People, a few more entries, I still need to upload photos before I can post more entries, so that will be tomorrow! Heading back north now, I have had enough of the Trekking “scene” and also the cold!
