Pasto: Blockades

Days 240 to 242 - Wednesday 17th to Friday 19th May 2006

Waking up for my first full day in Colombia was a decent feeling as Colombia was probably one of the countries I had most looked forward to visiting since starting to think about travelling in this part of the world.

Pasto: Entering Colombia

Day 239 - Tuesday 16th May 2006

I woke feeling groggy, packed my stuff, woke Aaron and we left Quito. I didn’t see anything there but I wasn’t overly concerned as at this time the only thing I wanted to do was get to Colombia.

Quito: Random Meetings

Day 238 - Monday 15th May 2006

I rose early again with the intention of catching a bus to Quito. Leaving the hostel at about half eight I took a taxi to the bus station where I immediately boarded a bus operated by one of the supposed better transport companies in Ecuador.

Guayguil: Passing Through

Day 237 - Sunday 14th May 2006

I woke up early and decided to make my way north. There was no specific reason for this, I just decided that I wanted to get to Colombia as soon as possible, and hanging around in beach towns was not really conducive to achieving this.

Mancora: Ceviche and Pacific

Day 236 - Saturday 13th May 2006

Arriving at 9.00am in Mancora (north of Peru) about 18 hours after leaving Lima, it was clear it was going to be a hot day! I jumped into a golf cart taxi and told my caddy to take me to a hotel. He drove me down the main road and after a couple of minutes we arrived at my concrete monstrosity of a hotel.
