As these plans are so VERY detailed I can tell you are impressed with the amount of research that has gone into making them.
So Roy, World Cup Final 2006, you want to be in Rio?
Damn right. Now all I need is for Brazil to actually get to the Final, and I’ll be in for a massive PARTY! For those of you interested, your World Cup Wallchart can be downloaded here. Adobe Reader required to view - get that here.
Things I want to do / learn whilst away |
September to early July is a long time - like a whole school year - what on earth are you gonna be doing while all those school dinners are being served?
Nine or ten months is a long time, but perhaps long enough to only get a glimpse of the different cultures, people and places. It’s a big world, and I can’t go everywhere and do everything, but here are a few things I would especially like to do.
n.b. These are aside from the things I want to day-to-day, such as mix with the locals and see their cities and town’s and their way of life.
Learn Spanish
I will travel down through Mexico for about a month, then stop and go back to school myself. I won’t be studying Art or them other fancy pants subjects though. Oh no, I will be learning the language of the Spanish…….Spanish.
There are plenty of language schools in Antigua, Guatemala, where I will stop travelling for a while, set up base and study for a few weeks of one-on-one tuition with a native. Hopefully be the end of my schooling there I will be able to skilfully converse with the target demographic - latina beauties! Or perhaps I will be able use my Spanish linguistic talents to rescue a hot young Scandinavian blonde who has fallen into trouble with the authorities, and only I am able to assist because I am the only one who speaks English and Spanish! Well its a long shot but come on, its my trip!
Scuba Diving
According to the guidebooks, the Bay Islands off the coast of Honduras are the cheapest place to learn to Scuba. Now I could learn on one of these islands, or I could learn at probably a million other places along the route, I just don’t know. But thats half the fun. Not knowing. The only thing I do know, is I went once before, but the guy who showing me what to do was talking in Spanish, and as you already know, I don’t speak Spanish yet, so I didn’t really get the gist of it.
Rock Climbing
Don’t ask why, just sounds like fun! Woa there Roy, climbing sounds like FUN? Well I think scaling a sheer rock face with nothing holding you but a rope does sound like fun. And I will get to wear a safety hat and look sexy!
Cycling
I fancy getting on the bike for a few weeks and travelling around a country, but until I know what the flattest country in the world is, I don’t know where I will be doing it! I like the idea of biking from place-to-place, I don’t like the idea of biking from place-to-place uphill!
Martial Arts
I have no illusions about being the next Bruce Lee, but studying Martial Arts is something I’ve always wanted to do, but have never really got around to doing properly. Apart from money factors I will not have any restrictions on time, so if I can get some classes for a good rate, I’ll stop for a month or so and train full time (or until my body tells me that I’ve had enough!).
Surfing
I suppose this can be done anyhere there is a wave and a surf shop, so hopefully I will do a fair bit of surfing. If it’s anthing like snowboarding it will be quality. But I’ll be able to get a tan surfing!
