Photo Albums Collection

I’ve made some photo albums from Latin America, grouped by country.
They can all be found on the Photography page, but here are the links for simplicity:

Mexico

Guatemala

Honduras

Nicaragua

Panama

Argentina

Bolivia

Peru

Colombia

Mexico

These photos were all used within the daily entries from my time in Mexico, from Tijuana on the border with the USA to Chetumal in the Yucatan Peninsula, however I thought it might be useful to group them together in one place for anyone interested in a quick photo tour of the country.
This is [...]

Eating Tacos in Mexico

My first experience of the real Mexican taco came at about 9pm on 1st October 2005 in Guerrero Negro, a dusty town in the middle of Baja California, famous for salt production and whale spotting.
Having spent the previous 12 hours on a bus from Tijuana, I badly needed sustenance. My day had been spent it [...]

Random Photo (1): Copper Canyon

I’ve decided to do a series of random photo posts, highlighting a good day or excursion from my travels.
The first in the series comes from the Copper Canyon in Mexico, taken only a week or two into the 11 month Latin America trip. The train from Los Mochis to Creel is a must-do for anyone [...]

Equipment Review

Back to Latin America Summary >>

Clothes
1 Pair Trousers – used sparingly, in nightclubs and whe ntemperature dipped – especially in Bolivia
1 Pair Cargo Shorts – used extensively. I recommend Gap. Lasted very well, had pockets repaired in Panama then replaced in Colombia.
3 T Shirts – White t-shirts didn’t last too well. Easy and cheap to [...]

The original blog – “roylloydjones” – started out as an almost daily journal from my eleven month backpacking trip around Latin America in 2005/06, recording daily events as I travelled by any mode of transport available – car, bus, train, aeroplane, rickshaw, canoe, sail boat, speed boat and ferry, eventually travelling this [...]

Photography

During the trip to Latin America, I used a Konica Minolta DiMAGE X20, which at 2megapixel is highly inferior in todays market. I think it worked pretty well throughout, until it died in Panama, on the beach at Playa Venao, right after taking some photos of some cows!
Below is a small selection of photos from [...]

Cartagena de Indias

Days 256 to 265 – Friday 2nd to Sunday 11th June 2006
Where the blog left off, I had just arrived in Cartagena. I arrived on the Thursday evening and I had a flight to Panama booked for the following Sunday. For whatever reason I decided to hang around the city for the weekend, and then [...]

Machu Picchu: Amazing

Day 217 – Monday 24th April 2006
I think it was a 4.30am get up as we needed to catch our train to Machu Picchu at 5.30am. Staggering half asleep through the streets of Cusco as they were just beginning to fill with people we found the train station easily, aware that for the past few [...]
